Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Carrie Anderson Mays is the fearless owner of Amelia Music Studio. From the University of North Florida; Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and has completed the Applied Behavior Analysis post-baccalaureate program of study.
Carrie started her piano instruction with Mary Wantanabe McKee and is an original student of the Amelia Arts Academy. For over 20 years her piano skills have been an integral part of the music ministry at St. Michael Catholic Church. Carrie began instruction on the Bb Clarinet with her band director Asa Jernigan and has studied with Joseph Yorio. Carrie has has taught private music lessons for over 15 years and has held faculty positions with the Nassau County School District, Amelia Arts Academy, and St. Michael Academy. She is a guest performer with the Nassau Community Band and delights in the thrill of performing and conducting at Amelia Musical Playhouse.
Carrie Anderson Mays' teaching methods are shaped by her background as a psychotherapist. Her students acquire the technical aspects of playing an instrument while practicing mindfulness, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills. Carrie is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Carrie and husband Jason are the courageous parents of their fabulous five year old daughter, Regan Olivia.
