Johnnie L. Robinson

Saxophone & Jazz Studies

An esteemed alumna of Florida A&M University, School of Music, Johnnie Robinson is also an original member of the A&M Rattler Marching Band.

Johnnie shared his incredible talents to educate, mentor, and inspire generations of instrumentalists in the 30 years he taught at Fernandina Beach High School. He created and cultivated numerous programs during his tenure:

  • Mighty Marching Pirate Band

  • Jazz Ensembles & Combos

  • Symphonic Bands

  • Madrigal Singers

  • Gospel Choir

Johnnie Robinson is best known for his sublime saxophone skills. If you are lucky enough to hear him on jazz flute it is a treat; and should the rhythm be right- this cat can scat!

Even in retirement Johnnie maintains a rigorous performance schedule with the locals favorite "Instant Groove" funk combo and guest appearances at charity events.

When he is not teaching private lessons or performing, Johnnie and his delightful wife Rosalyn enjoy gardening and spending time with their adorable grandchildren.
