Amelia Music Studio's newest violin teacher Rebecca Klein started teaching with us in 2021. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Indiana University. Her major teachers were James Buswell, Paul Makanowitzky, and Sally Thomas. Rebecca also participated in various seminars and festivals, including the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Spoleto Festival, and the Bach Aria Festival.
She began her professional career as concertmaster of the South Dakota Symphony and first violinist of the Dakota Quartet. From there, her career took her to New Hampshire as second violinist of the Apple Hill Chamber Players.
Teaching has always been a passionate focus in Rebecca’s career as a musician. She has taken several Suzuki teacher-training courses and participated in classes and workshops with Mimi Zweig and Linda Case. In South Dakota, she taught violin at Augustana College. Teaching eventually took her to Atlanta, GA where she was Director of Chamber Music at The Westminster Schools. In 1999, she won the Kay Logan Award for Excellence in Chamber Music Teaching.
Rebecca also earned an MA in English from Georgia State University. For fourteen years, she taught English at The Galloway School in Atlanta, while also maintaining a private violin teaching studio and playing chamber music. In 2018, she moved to Fernandina Beach, where she is enjoying tutoring students in academic subjects and teaching violin at the Amelia Island Music Studio.
